A Story in Gold:
A custom ring.
There’s something truly magical about a piece of jewellery that feels like it’s lived a life before it finds its way to you.
I recently had the pleasure of creating a ring to feature a baroque organic pearl, an antique cushion cut diamond, and a ruby gemstone.
Each of the gems featured in this ring have come from heirloom jewellery pieces and now set in a one-of-a-kind ring that is timeless, soulful, and unforgettable.
A Symphony of Materials
At the heart of this ring is the baroque pearl — nature’s own sculpture, celebrated for its unique curves and subtle, iridescent glow. Unlike the perfection of cultivated pearls, this organic pearl has formed as the nacre layers build up. A round pearl, is formed by perfectly symmetrical nacre layers, baroque pearls develop irregularly due to disruptions in the nacre's deposition process. The nature of this pearl makes this ring feel deeply personal and alive.
Next to the pearl sits an antique diamond, a stone that already holds decades of history within its facets. Reclaimed and repurposed, this diamond acts as a reminder of those who wore it in the past with an air of nostalgia and sustainability, a nod to craftsmanship from a different era. The ring also features small diamonds in the band that catch the light from all perspectives.
Creating balancing in the asymmetrical piece is a vibrant ruby, rich in colour and intensity. Each of the three gems coming together harmoniously.

The Art of Texture
The 18ct yellow gold band has been hand-carved to evoke the raw, organic patterns found in nature —the gold feels less like a treasure unearthed from a hidden place. Its matte sheen glows against the skin, a perfect complement to the vivid gemstones it holds.

A Piece That Tells a Story
This ring isn’t just an accessory, a keepsake, and a future heirloom. Each glance will bring a new appreciation — for the subtle texture of the gold, the way the pearl catches the light, the history carried by the diamond, and the vibrant spirit of the ruby. It’s a piece made not just to be worn, but to be lived with.
Final Thoughts
In a world of mass production, jewellery like this stands apart — a testament to individuality, artistry, and the enduring power of beautiful things made by hand. My favourite part of jewellery making is being able to combine all these elements to create a new piece that carries great sentiment for another lifetime. The 18ct yellow gold textured ring with pearl, vintage diamond, and ruby is a reminder that true luxury is found not just in materials, but in meaning.
